Reflections of the Ocean

Hi all this is my first Blog of 2023 I’ve been that busy but I want to share my thoughts & hopefully someone can take benefit like I did.

I read a book in January called Losing Control Finding Serenity, it took me 3 days to finish and I found it beneficial. Control is usually a fear response and I like many people find myself to be very controlling even subconsciously.

What can we learn from the Ocean

The ocean covers the majority of the world I live in London and rarely see and think about the ocean but I’m a water baby, I love water and water regulates our emotions.

Reflecting on the natural rhythms of the ocean & how they appl & correlate to the human being’s state. The ebb and flow, troughs and peaks it’s always moving. Sometimes it’s stormy with destructive waves, sometimes it’s serene for a walk along the beach with your toes in the wet sand. Sometimes you swim and sometimes you float, you surf and conquer the wave & other times you wipe out.

‘Catching waves’ literally and metaphorically in terms of creativity and inspiration and being in a flow state is ideal – as a content creator & writer but we have blocks all the time and have to ‘flow’ around them.

Not forcing situations or people, resting instead of pushing and understanding when to decipher between the two. Natural rhythms that waves (relationships) have come to an end & not being too upset because that’s it’s time, it was meant to end at that point in time and allowing the natural course of things will leave you less hurt then trying to hold onto something.

The human being goes through 40 states of flux (flow) a day.

Which means allowing yourself to feel the full range of emotions that have been created and not fearing emotions and feelings but sitting with them (even though uncomfortable) and understanding them. Also not to hold on to emotions too deep and too long. Noticing your daily patterns, time of day, time of month & hormones for women, weather etc there are a lot of factors when you become more self aware.

Need to go with your natural rhythm and flow to optimize working with ourselves not against, we’re not robots or rigid, we have to flow and make constant adjustments and assessments. You may have wanted to do something today but couldn’t, instead of getting annoyed and frustrated that things are not going according to your plan it’s better to let it go and attempt another time. The philosophy by Bruce Lee be like water is the most important to live by.

This is when we are intune with ourselves and our feelings, thoughts, emotions throughout the day, we can ask ourselves ‘what flux (flow) state am I in right now?’ and proceed accordingly to the natural rhythms of our bodies.

‘Going with the flow’ quite literally letting go, let it flow as Lauren London said ‘surrendering to the flow of the water instead of fighting to hold on to the rocks’ which is very hard to do.

Perfect/Divine Timing – catching the proverbial waves and anybody can catch them, trusting timing, the process, yourself and God. Something I still grapple with as Nip said ‘sometimes perfect timing got me feeling like i’m too late’.

So when you feel stagnated as I have for a very long time and you’re not moving as fast as you want or are where you envisioned yourself to be, remember you are not stuck, the blood is flowing through your veins, your heart is beating to the ordained rhythm, your lungs are inhaling and exhaling, you have breathe in your body, you have thoughts in your brain and a dream in your heart and you can move forward one step at a time.

Not letting go – for example my son won’t drink his Prime drinks they’re just sitting there, my husband buys more but not for my son because he already has some. I told him to drink them and he can have MORE but he’s not listening. The advice is more useful for me though, sometimes we need to let go to get more.

Let it Go Let it Flow – My Mantra for the next 6 months of 2023 God willing and being open to the next Wave.

Reflections

Go and sit on a beach quietly no phone no distractions and watch the ocean for 20 minutes. 1/ Listen to the natural sounds of the waves it helps regulate your emotions 2/ Reflect on your being in comparison to the ocean. The waves of emotions you feel inside and the natural rhythms & flows. I also recommend reading – Losing Control Finding Serenity.
